Love Island – catch up: Michael and Francesca dumped from villa, plus three other talking points

The end of another series of Love Island is (thankfully) in sight – and tonight saw two contestants thrown out the week before the grand finale.

Considering his antics in recent weeks, it always seemed like Michael's time was nearing an end meaning that whoever ended up with him at the time would go down as collateral damage.

For all the remaining couples, it's becoming increasingly impossible to trust a single word coming out of any of their mouths considering they can practically smell the £50,000 prize fund.

Below are the four biggest talking points from the latest episode.

1. The kiss

Revenge is a dish best served cold – or under the covers of the bed next to the guy who has treated you awfully. Michael discovered this tonight when Greg – fresh from being picked by Amber – finally decided to reward her with a kiss (a "thank you" would have sufficed, Greg). That this came hours after Michael had told Amber he doesn't think they're going to work only added to how ridiculously gratifying it was to see. Well, as much as two people canoodling in darkness could possibly be.

2. The question

Jordan, realising he's in need of some screen time, settled on the perfect tactic to find himself front and centre of tonight's episode – by asking Anna to be his girlfriend. No, no, to be fair to good old Jordan, his feelings for Anna certainly seem genuine – how could they not be after coming up with the most saccharine way of popping the question? He took his girlfriend-to-be on a magical mystery tour of all the places in the villa that they've shared a romantic moment. She said yes, thus saving Jordan from what could have been a lifetime of embarrassment..

3. The date

Clearly we were overdue some Curtis and Maura time. Quite why producers thought we'd want to watch a full 10 minutes of the pair squeezing oranges, though, is another matter entirely. To not be completely cynical, these two also seem like they actually like each other... while the £50,000 is in play, at least.

4. The dumping

Poor Francesca. From the moment she was lumbered with Michael following last week's recoupling, her days were numbered. Sure enough, the moment a couple faced the chopping block, it was Michael – and inadvertently Francesca – who would be sent packing. Not before Michael could offer three sage words of advice to Greg about Amber: "Treat her well." All he has to do is do exactly the opposite of what you did, right Michael?

Follow along with live updates from the latest episode as it happened below

Hello and welcome to yet another Love Island live blog.
It's dumping day! *does dumping day dance* Who's gonna go? Do we still even care?
My money is on Michael and Francesca, but you know what they say: stranger (and more interesting) things have happened.
Amber, Greg and Michael aside, the biggest revelation from Friday night's episode was this from Chris.
It turns out the greatest moment of this year's series wasn't even televised.

Only a week to go until this show ends. How are you gonna celebrate?
This is your one hour warning.
This is a good point – Chris, Ovie and Greg are easily the funniest and most decent guys, which probably answers the below question.

Here we go, one and all.
Previously on Love Island, Michael got PIED.
Michael doesn't think Greg and Amber will work – shocker of the century.
The girls are a big big fan of "gentleman" Greg, but then again, next to Michael, anyone is.
I still don't know who this Harley is, but I lowkey want her and Chris to win this competition.
Chris is telling Harley what sides she's got to her. He said she's "banging" so we'll take his word for it.
It's like they're all in high school the moment someone kisses and it cringes me out every time.
Jordan's making a ploy for attention – he wants to ask Anna to be his chick (his word).
Yeah, just tell the girls you're talking about the fact Michael got PIED MASSIVELY BY AMBER. Ha.
By the way, it's mu duty to tell you that apparently 14 goats invaded the villa and trashed the set, but they aren't gonna show this? Surefire ratings winner, that.
Jordan's magical mystery tour, everyone.
For those who aren't watching, he's taking Anna to every spot they've shared a romantic moment and is going to end with asking her to be his girlfriend... Sweet, I guess?

Love Island continues nightly at 9pm on ITV2
