Love Island catch up: Anna has doubts, Curtis grovels to Amy and three other talking points

Another dramatic episode of Love Island saw both Amy and Amber in tears after confronting Curtis and Michael about their bad behaviour.

After taking some time to cool off, Amy confronted Curtis for betraying her, which led to one of the most epic put-downs of the show ("You're the perfect guy, aren't you? No you're f***ing not"), while Amber tried to have a reasonable conversation with Michael only to realise he is, in fact, a four-year-old who just got caught raiding the cookie jar.

Meanwhile Anna is starting to look as though she seriously regrets her decision to dump Jordan in favour of basketball player Ovie. And after an entire episode of no interactions other than the occasional glare, Amber gets a text revealing she has to have a proper talk with Joanna (Michael's new partner) over a glass of wine. We'll have to wait until the next episode to find out how that goes.

The liveblog is now closed.

Well, it's hard to imagine what could possibly top last night's most dramatic of episodes, but there are just under two hours until we find out

What happens now? Lots of shouting apparently.

The tears, the mopey expressions, the shy grins – and that’s just Tommy gazing at his toy elephant. But now, after the Recoupling calm, comes the storm. At least judging by the sneak preview of tonight's episode. It seems Amy has a few choice words for Curtis. And Michael is speaking rather passionately too. Forget the Rumble in the Jungle. This is shaping up to be the Squawker in Majorca.

Thank goodness for Tommy and Molly-Mae

The entire villa melts into tears as Tommy and Molly Mae hug. They’ve stayed true to one another! Love Island is often accused of cynically manipulating its contestants. But this moment of genuine human emotion cuts through the reality shenanigans like a comb through a quiff drenched in gel. Sorry for the weird analogy – but I’ve just spent the past 80 minute starring at Curtis’s hair so it’s what comes to mind.

The extra running time works: Eighty minutes of Love Island? For some viewers, that might sound about as appealing as an extra half-hour in the dentist’s chair. But this is a night full of drama, heartache and Curtis looking as if he wants to dive behind a potted plant and hide. Stuffing it all into the traditional hour would have been far too rushed.

Do we have to watch Michael being a fool for a THIRD time?
Michael has gone from hero to zero in the space of a few minutes
"I genuinely, genuinely thought I knew Michael." Didn't we all, Molly Mae, didn't we all.
"I had a sticky feeling." Love Island t-shirt 2019
My housemate: "Can you google 'dead ting?'"
Agreed
Curtis wants a chat. The worst four words of the episode.
Curtis: "I will not lie to you at all, I'm not going to do that." Oh what a stand-up guy.
*chants* Maura, Maura, Maura. It is time for her tough love.
"Alright, OK." I can see it brewing.
"This isn't the Michael I know. This isn't the Michael I left behind. It's like someone has possessed him." Agreed, Anna.
Love Island 2019: Amber puts on a brave face as Michael tries to explain himself after re-coupling
Love Island 2019: Confident Amber tells Maura she knows she's better than Joanna 'in every sense of the word'
Are Michael and Anna speaking English? Either way, I'm on team Anna.
Can Anna and Maura win as joint single Islanders?

Love Island continues on 5 July at 9pm on ITV2
