Love Island catch up: Biggest talking points including Belle and Anton dumping ahead of final episode

Anton and Belle have become the latest couple to be dumped from Love Island after receiving the lowest number of public votes.

Anton was one of the original contestants from this year's series while Belle joined later on. The dumping took place after all of the Islanders received visits from their families in the popular "meet the parents" segment of the series.

Here are some of the biggest talking points from the penultimate episode of the series.

Anton and Belle got dumped

Not surprisingly, really, given they were one of the least interesting couples this season.

The contestants got to see their families

In what is always one of the most genuinely moving moments of Love Island, members of each contestant's family turned up to wish the Islanders good luck for the final, offer words of wisdom and meet their respective partners. Top marks for Curtis's mum, who was incapable of pronouncing Maura's name properly (she kept saying "Moira").

Greg's mum gave Amber a shamrock necklace

... which clearly gave Amber and Greg the luck they needed to skip through to the Love Island final.

Anton's mum gave Belle a razor

It's possible that viewers were so grossed out after seeing this moment in the preview that they voted Anton and Belle out together, just to save Belle from the horrors of having to shave her boyfriend's arse.

The liveblog is now closed

Good evening, and welcome to tonight's Love Island liveblog. It's the penultimate episode of this year's series, so you can guess how excited I am at the prospect of it being over. About as excited as the Islanders when they get a text, so... very.

In this evening's episode the contestants get to see their families for the first time in ages, which is always pretty emotional (for them, at least). It also means it's "meet the parents" time, with each contestant introducing their respective partners to mum and dad in the hopes of getting their approval.
Here's a sneak-peek at that 'meet the parents' moment

One couple is getting dumped from the villa tonight. Who do you think it's going to be? My money's on Amber and Greg, who are brilliant individuals but also one of the newest couples in the villa. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that most winners tend to me the longest-running couples of the series (Dany and Jack etc). So I reckon Tommy and Molly-Mae stand a pretty good chance.
It's been an interesting season, hasn't it? Or at least, about as interesting as a show like Love Island can be. There's been considerably less "drama" than in previous series, at least not the kind that doesn't feel completely contrived, and I'm betting it has a lot to do with the strict rules and fact that producers are clearly trying to crack down on the kind of things that cause controversy among viewers and critics.
Do you think there's going to be a really weird and gross conversation between Belle and Anton's mum about the best technique for shaving his arse.
We're less than 10 minutes away from the penultimate episode of Love Island, which means I will soon have my evenings back. You can imagine my delight.
Just caught the end of Step Up 2: The Streets so that was fun.
Remember I was talking about what we've learnt from this series of Love Island? Well, our lifestyle desk has rounded up the relationship lessons from this season. Lesson 1. Get your boyfriend to shave his own arse

So a recap of the last episode. The contestants had to vote for a couple to dump from the island, and we're going to find out who that was.
Curtis can't believe it's the end. And he's GOT A TEXT. Maura took approximately five seconds to recognise her own mother, which is somewhat concerning.
This is often actually one of the nicest parts of the show, just because it's genuinely heartwarming seeing the contestants seeing their loved ones for the first time in ages. However, there are always moments where the parents have blatantly been coached to say something about their daughter/brother/son/sister/cousin or their respective partners.
Ohhhh, Maura's ma is a proper Irish mammy. What a babe.

Omg, Curtis's mum can't say Maura.
Curtis and Maura enjoyed meeting the parents. Or so they say.

"A cuddle from your mammy, that's all you need," says Maura. It's true.
So Ovie's brother and his cousin are here. Apparently he was "taking some liberties" with certain things... But we're not sure what.

I love Ovie. I don't know if him and India have really clicked properly but he's probably the best person on the show.

And India's mum is right in there with "you're much better looking in real life". Nice one, mum.

Aw family selfie.
Are we literally going to have to wait between ad breaks to see each family visit, though. They're definitely dragging this out.
Oh no wait here's Tommy and Molly Mae's family.
Molly-Mae's mum has definitely taken a shine to Tommy.

The Love Island final airs on Monday 29 July at 9pm on ITV2
