Love Island latest: Amber and Anna's row with Danny sparks 192 complaints to Ofcom

Nearly 200 people complained to broadcasting watchdog Ofcom about Love Island hopefuls Amber Gill and Anna Vakili’s furious reaction to fellow contestant Danny Williams.

Ofcom confirmed that they have received 192 complaints about last night’s episode, with the majority relating to the girls’ treatment of Danny, and said that they are deciding “whether or not to investigate.”

The reality hopefuls didn’t hide their disdain after he chose to couple up with new islander Arabella Chi instead of staying with Yewande Biala, prompting the scientist to be dumped from the island.

Amber and Anna were outraged as Danny and Arabella kissed in front of the islanders shortly after Yewande’s departure.

Outraged: Danny's decision riled Amber (ITV)

“You wouldn’t jump in her grave that quick would you,” Amber said while glaring at the new couple.

When Danny came over to the group of girls to try and address the tension, Anna repeatedly spoke over him, saying “bye, bye” and waving him away.

Fellow islander Jordan Hames, who is currently coupled up with Anna, described her behaviour as “childish.”

An Ofcom spokesperson told Standard Online: “We will assess these complaints against our broadcasting rules, but are yet to decide whether or not to investigate.”

Criticised: Anna was called out for her remarks by Jordan (ITV)

The islanders’ behaviour divided fans on Twitter, with some criticising Amber and Anna for being “childish” while others praised their “loyalty” to Yewande.

“Amber and Anna are both being stupid and immature in this episode and u [sic] can’t change my mind,” one viewer wrote, while another described their “attitude” as “shocking.”

“Amber and Anna be acting like they’ve been bff’s [sic] with Yewande for 20 years and she’d been in a 5 year relationship with Dani [sic],” a third fan commented.

Fans who sided with the girls suggested that they were “sticking up” for their friend.

“Yes Amber and Anna are PETTY but NOT bullies. Did you see how much they appreciated and took care of Yewande???” one Twitter user reasoned. “The girls can stand their ground and if anything, they’re doing it for their friend!”

Ofcom received 486 complaints earlier this month when Maura Higgins attempted to kiss Tommy Fury.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
