It’s not often Love Island is criticised for having antiquated ideals...
But this season’s boys have been accused of behaving like it’s the 1950s, after criticising women for being career driven and “too feisty”.
Sparks haven’t exactly been flying between the couples, and this week VIP events host Aaron Francis complained his partner, civil servant Sharon Gaffka, was too driven for his tastes.
The pair decided they were incompatible, Aaron wanting four children, while Sharon has “always been against having children”.
Aaron told the other guys: “I think she’s a bit scared of the idea of a guy wanting to be the main breadwinner, and her the housewife. She’s... success, success, success. very career driven.”

Viewers said Aaron’s behaviour was a show of “toxic masculinity”, with one commenting: “This is not the 1950s – a woman doesn’t have to be a housewife.”
In last night’s show, the pair ended their brief dalliance, after Aaron pulled Sharon up about her “feisty” behaviour during a debate about cosmetic surgery.
