Love Island Jake Cornish's 7-year relationship with ex that brutally ended in lockdown

Love Island 2021 hopeful Jake Cornish has a decent reason for heading to the villa this summer – he hopes to mend his broken heart following a lockdown dumping.

The 24-year-old engineer was in a seven year romance – but it all came to a crashing end during lockdown caused by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Jake – who is from Weston-super-Mare in Somerset – says he is looking for a new relationship and hopes that the Love Island villa could be the place to discover someone who will help heal his heart.

He is just one of the initial Love Island contestants who are being flown to the Spanish island of Majorca to take part in the hit ITV reality romance show.

Speaking about his past romances ahead of the show beginning next week, Jake said being dumped in lockdown motivated him want to take part in the show.

He said: “I was in a relationship for seven years and then when lockdown hit, I was single.”

Looking ahead to the reality contest, he added: “The opportunity is there, you might as well take it by the horns and go for it.”

Jake went on to describe his perfect woman – and also revealed he is a loyal partner, who finds it difficult to trust other people after being approached multiple times by women who aren’t single themselves.

He said: “Looks wise, [I’ve] always gone for blondes. But for me, the main thing is having respect and having good fun, and someone who will be loyal to you.

“I’ve had messages from girls that have got boyfriends and husbands. This is why I don’t trust anyone.”

Explaining he wants someone with similar values to call his girlfriend, Jake added he is also willing to kiss a few frogs before finding his princess, stating: “Someone who is loyal really. But when I’m single, I like having a good time!”

Jake also revealed his ultimate celebrity crush is a former Towie star – who brutally blanked his attempt to once gain her attention.

He revealed: “My ideal woman is Billie Faiers. She is my dream woman.

“I think for a laugh once with the boys, I messaged her. I can’t remember what I messaged her. She’s a lady, she’s just lush.”

With blondes top of Jakes list, he may set his sights on fellow 2021 contestant Liberty Poole, who is a 21-year-old waitress from Birmingham.

Or perhaps Chloe Burrows who is a 25-year-old financial services marking executive from Bicester, who herself says she is looking for someone loyal, declaring she is looking for: "Someone who you can depend on to not ditch you."

Whilst 26-year-old Faye Winter, an estate agent from Devon, could also be a top choice for Jake as she has honey coloured hair.

The new series is due to kick off on ITV2 on Monday 28 June at 9pm.
