Love Island: ITV boss hopes show will continues for another 5 years

Whatever you think of Love Island, the most divisive show on television looks set to continue far into the future.

Over the weekend, an ITV boss was asked how long they can foresee the show continuing, predicting that the reality show could very well keep going for another five years.

“It is a show that will evolve and live and breathe,” Angela Jain told The Daily Star. ”My hope is that it is going to be on telly for the next five years. So who knows where it will go.”

Chances are that Love Island will continue for at least another couple of years as the ITV2 show has broken viewing figure records for the channel, 3.4 million people watching the opening episode. Over 80,000 people applied to appear in the fourth series of the rebooted show.

The current batch of contestants continue to be as gripping as ever, Georgia causing chaos, Laura in tears, and a public vote looming. The Independent has been live-blogging the series, which continues weekdays and Sundays on ITV2 at 9pm.
