Love Island Irish duo get vote of confidence from Conor McGregor

Dublin MMA superstar Conor McGregor thrown his weight behind Love Island's Irish contestants Greg O'Shea and Maura Higgins amidst anger over fans at home being unable to vote for their favourites.

The Notorious' sister, Dancing With The Stars' Erin is known to be a massive fan of the show, and Conor himself retweeted a video of the pair doing an impression of him to his more than 7.7 million Twitter followers.

In the clip, the pair both give their interpretation of McGregor's infamous 'Billy strut', while O'Shea quotes a viral social media video of the UFC star saying 'No f***ing problem mate'.

The social media support comes after outrage online over Irish fans' inability to vote on the show, despite massive ratings on Virgin Media Two.

While those in the UK decide on their favourite contestants on the ITV app, fans in Greg and Maura's home country are blocked from doing so on Virgin Media.

This comes despite the reality TV show trouncing RTE’s Nine O’Clock news in the ratings with an average of over 300,000 people tuning in every night.

It has led to Irish contestants’ family, friends – and those manning their social media accounts – to beg their UK followers to vote on their behalf while they are in the Spanish villa.

Dublin model Shannen Reilly McGrath, who appeared on Love Island in 2017, described the censorship as “discrimination”.

She told the Irish Sunday Mirror: “I think it’s shocking the Irish still can’t vote – I thought they would have it sorted by now.

“It is not like we are watching the show online or through ITV. It is being shown on an Irish network, Virgin Media, so we should be given the opportunity to have the same say as the British fans.”
