Love Island hit with Ofcom complaints as viewers accuse boys of 'bullying' Ekin-Su

Love Island has been hit with 75 Ofcom complaints from disgruntled viewers following a heated row involving Jacques O'Neill, Luca, Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Jay Younger.

The complaints come as fans of the hit ITV2 show feel the Turkish actress was treated unfairly by some of the male residents in the Villa.

Viewers complained to Ofcom following a broadcast on June 23, an episode which saw Jacques slam Ekin-Su - branding her a "f****ing headache".

He told her that Jay has "coupled up with you and he's found out what you are in two days mate, a f*****g headache."

Last weeks update from the Villa saw some viewers concerned by the scenes, as none of the girls in the villa leapt to Ekin-Su’s defence as the boys ganged up on her.

Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “Ekin Su is getting bullied in that villa and nothing is being done.”

Another similarly called out the producers behind the ITV2 dating show for allowing the situation to continue, with one writing: “Jaques is so nasty to ekin su. They fully bully her why haven't the producers stepped in yet??”

Another wrote: “Anyone else feels like ekin su is blatantly being bullied? Like ya she went about things the wrong way with Jay but she risked a lot? And everyone was happy because she brought entertainment?”

“CAN ALL THESE MEN F***ING MOVE A PACK OF RABID DOGS COMING AT HER … and all the girls being silent observers,” another wrote.

The Turkish actress was left blindsided last week when Jay said he wanted to get to know Paige Thorne, who is currently coupled up with Jacques O’Neill.

While she initially took the news well, on reflection back in the villa she pulled him for another chat and told him he “deserves an Oscar”.

When Ekin-Su stormed off to the kitchen and labelled Jay’s behaviour “muggy”, Jacques described her as a “headache” while Luca jokily welcomed Jay to “the doghouse”.

The Mirror has approached ITV for comment regarding the Ofcom complaints.

The viewer outrage comes as Love Island celebrate the current series reaching a whopping 100 million streams online.

In a statement issued on Wednesday ITV said: "ITV can today confirm that Series 8 of Love Island has already hit 100 million streams, which is the earliest point in the series the show has reached this milestone.

"This makes the eighth series of the sunshine dating show the most streamed series so far, and ITV’s most streamed title of 2022."

"Yesterday was ITV’s biggest day for Hub viewing so far this year, with nearly 10 million streams across the day."
