Love Island hit by 377 Ofcom complaints over controversial 'cheating' claims

Love Island has been hit by nearly 400 Ofcom complaints over claims made in its controversial News Splash challenge.

Angry viewers flocked to the broadcasting regulator to voice their objections after the game led to Paige believing, Finn had been looking elsewhere in Casa Amor.

The two became an official couple just days before the challenge aired, but then in Thursday's episode, Love Island viewers saw them embroiled in a heated spat over the headline which claimed Finn, as well as Callum and Nas, had their heads turned on day one of being in the show's infamous second villa.

But, while Callum and Nas' eyes were definitely on the wander early doors, viewers claimed there was never any evidence to suggest Finn would stray.

According to The Sun, Ofcom explained that the majority of the complaints from viewers focused on Finn's inclusion in the headline, saying it was 'fake news' designed to cause drama by show producers.

One viewer tweeted: "Poor Finn, getting grilled for doing absolutely nothing," and another reacted: "Only just watched yesterday’s love island challenge and that’s poor from them putting that on Finn, he done nothing wrong in Casa Amor and the producers put that headline up to stir things causing Paige to worry about her trust issues?"

A third ranted: "I personally think it’s disgusting that a fake headline was used. every single person knows unless you’ve been living underneath a rock that Finn’s head wasn’t turned for a second in casa amor. It isn’t acceptable to play with people’s minds the way this show does."

Reacting to the headline, which was plucked from a story by Heart, Paige said: "It's no secret I'm not the most trusting so this just feels a bit like betrayal."
