Love Island finalists 'on lockdown' after live show, according to host Laura Whitmore

Despite triumphing in the live final, Love Island winners Paige and Finn were unable to party too hard to celebrate their success as they and their fellow contestants were "on lockdown" after Sunday's show.

Glasgow singer Paige and Oxford City footballer Finn caused a bit of an upset after beating red hot bookies favourites Siannise and Luke T to win the ITV2 show's first-ever winter series.

The result sparked a huge reaction on Twitter, with some angry fans saying the result was fixed as they flooded social media with angry posts.

The Islanders themselves had no clue about the response to the final back home after still not having access to their mobile phones and host Laura Whitmore said they were "on lockdown" as she hit back at reports that the cast and crew enjoyed a 'boozy after-party' after the credits rolled.

Posting on her Instagram story, Laura wrote: "Little note to the tabloids...the boozy after-party with the Islanders was a 20 min drink and a cuddle as they're still on lockdown and we're two hours ahead so came off air at 1.30am. Adrenaline and emotions were high. In light of everything let's try and get facts right.

A glance at the Love Island finalists' Instagram stories reveals that they still haven't posted themselves, with their accounts still being run by friends and family who had been monitoring them during their stints in the villa.

All of the Islanders are set to be reunited on an Aftersun special later this week.
