Love Island final: Ed Balls among viewers celebrating Amber and Greg's win

After two months of cracking on and grafting in the Mallorca sunshine, Love Islandhas crowned Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea the winning couple.

The 21-year-old beauty therapist might’ve only been partnered with O’Shea for a few weeks, but the duo have already amassed a major fan base, prompting them to beat favourites Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague to take home the crown on the ITV2 reality TV programme.

News of Amber and Greg’s win has thrilled viewers, prompting hundreds of thousands of ecstatic tweets and Instagram posts.

Among those posting about the programme is none other than former cabinet minister Ed Balls.

“I am told by my expert co-watchers that this is very much the right result,” the former Strictly Come Dancing contestant tweeted.

“Congratulations Amber and Greg,” Balls added.

Many concurred that the “right” decision had been reached regarding the show’s winners, who are chosen by public vote.

“The UK f***ed up with Brexit but thank god Amber and Greg won Love Island, teased one person.

“Amber was the first person to walk into the villa, Greg was the last person and they just won together, that’s mad,” another pointed out.

Several ex-islanders also offered their congratulations, including last year’s winner Jack Fincham and season two contestant, Malin Andersson.

Some fans argued that Amber’s win was particularly well-deserved given her difficult experiences in the villa with former partner, Michael Griffiths, who dumped her for Joanna Chimonides.

“Amber’s journey on Love Island just shows you that you can leave a toxic guy that treats you like s*** and end up finding someone that treats you like you deserve, don’t settle for anything less than a Greg my ladies,” wrote one person.

Another added that ”Michael will be fuming” over the result.
