Love Island 2021 is over, with Millie and Liam crowned the show’s winners.
Tonight (23 August), our enthralling if occasionally tedious summer respite reached its end, with one of the show’s last surviving couples crowned the nation’s winners.
The final episode saw Millie and Liam voted the winners in a public vote, and then choosing to split the £50,000 prize money.
The eternally exhausting (if, recently, sort of adorable?) pairing of Chloe and Toby placed second, while melodramatic twosome Faye and Teddy placed third. The far-too-good-for-this-whole-thing double act of Kaz and Tyler placed fourth.
The finale followed the same pattern as every other series of Love Island. The winning couple was chosen by the viewers, with the pair awarded the £50,000 prize money. As in previous editions, the winning boy and girl each received their own envelope: one containing the full prize money, and the other containing nothing.
The person with the more bountiful envelope then had to declare whether they wished to keep the £50,000 for themselves – in effect proving that Love Island is a horrid sham and love is dead – or split the money with their partner.
To little surprise, Millie chose to split the money, with her and Liam kissing beneath an explosion of confetti.
