Love Island fans stunned by Rachel's coq au vin blunder

Love Island newcomer Rachel Finni sparked a frenzy with a mix-up over a popular meal during a cosy chat with potential date Brad McClelland.

Glam Rachel hit the ground running in heels when she strutted into the Love Island villa on Friday night.

But jaws dropped when she fell down on her culinary knowledge while getting to know Brad during Sunday night's episode.

The luxury travel specialist confidently asserted that coq au vin is duck with wine.

Fans of the ITV2 dating show flocked to Twitter to put her right.

“'Coq au vin, it’s duck with wine' WELL clearly you’re not that cultured Rachel, because it’s CHICKEN. "CHICKEN WITH WINE," shouted one viewer.

"Did Rachel really just ridicule Brad for not knowing what coq au vin is, and then say that it means duck and wine in French?" asked another.

"Rachel is really showing that confidence saying coq au vin is duck in wine," another viewer commented.

"Trying to be smart asking him if he knows what 'coq au vin' is and then saying 'wine with duck'" marvelled another.

Another commented: "I’d be a bit worried if Rachel said she was cooking coq au vin and I got duck."

"Worries me that Rachel has been eating Coq au Vin all this time thinking she’s scranning on a bloody duck," said another.

And another viewer, admiring her confidence, said: "Also, the absolute confidence with which Rachel incorrectly explained what Coq Au Vin is? the energy we can only aspire to."

Rachel, 29, is tasked with deciding which two single boys in the villa - Brad or Chuggs Wallis - she will couple with.

The other girls have just recoupled with the boy of their choice, leaving Brad and Chuggs single.

When new girl Rachel made her entrance into the villa in Mallorca it was revealed she had 24 hours to get to know both boys before choosing to recouple with one of them.

Sunday's episode ended on a cliffhanger with viewers waiting until tomorrow to find out who she picked.

Love Island continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox.
