Love Island fans slam vile food challenge in midst of coronavirus pandemic

Love Island viewers have slammed the show's recent task amid the coronavirus pandemic.

During Monday's (13 July) instalment of the hit ITV dating show, contestants took part in a couple's challenge that required them to pass different Sunday-roast related ingredients from one side of the arena to the other.

But they could only use their mouth to do so.

Liberty and Jake crowned Millie and Liam the winners after they successfully transported the entire contents of the meal back onto the plate.

The vile challenge has been a regular segment since 2015, but viewers were baffled as to why it was included in this year's show in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Many took to Twitter to share their opinion on it, with one person writing: "With the pandemic is this challenge REALLY REALLY necessary????"

Another wrote: "Can’t believe love island producers thought it would be appropriate to do the food challenge this year when we are literally still in a pandemic….yah people are vaccinated and all but they got some balls I swear we couldn’t even shake hands months ago."

"This is THE WORST F***ING CHALLENGE OF THIS SHOW," said a third, "Whyyyyyyy do u keep bringing it back. AND DURING A PANDEMIC!?!?!? Kill me now."

And someone else said: "Dear god not even a global pandemic was powerful enough to stop these food challenges… this is vile."

And others were just downright disgusted.

"50k isn’t enough for me to participate in that challenge EUGHHH," said one viewer.

Another added: "NOT THIS VILE CHALLENGE AGAIN," while a third commented: "All I’m saying is that if we had to endure the spitting challenge then they should bring back the lie detector test."
