Love Island fans praise 'relatable' Francesca for going makeup free and owning acne scars

Love Island viewers are praising ITV for bringing in a "relatable" islander.

The Essex local has won the hearts of many fans after going completely makeup free just hours after her arrival, and showing off her acne scars .

After spotting the beauty owning her scarring, many were quick gush about how inspiring it was to see a "normal" girl on their screens.

"Seeing Francesca showing off her skin has made me so happy! This is the type of normal, relatable person we wanted #loveisland," one wrote.

While another added: "Love that they’ve finally put a gal like Francesca in, not perfect skin but still unreal".

A third chipped in: "As someone who has the worst struggle with my skin and let’s it get me down so much it’s so f***ing refreshing to see an amazingly beautiful girl like Francesca show off her bare face and acne to the world without shame. just made me feel all warm inside. #LoveIsland ".

It comes after fans had previously criticised the show so far for their failure to represent "normal" men and women.

Fans were also furious that Anna Vakili was branded the plus size star (ITV)

The show came under fire earlier this series after Anna Vakili was branded their curvy contestant despite her toned stomach and tiny waist.

"Which one of them is supposedly be ‘Plus Size’?! Wow I feel proper fat! Thanks for this #LoveIsland," one person wrote after seeing the original lineup.

As another agreed: "I’m sorry but is Anna- the beautifully toned and flat stomached girl- the curvy girl to add diversity to the show?"

Agreeing that the show should do more to make their contestants relatable, reality star Jake Quickenden echoed the views of many when he wrote: "I truly think love island would be much better banter and more watchable if you just put “ normal people “ in....

"Not model after model after influencer after me brothers famous!! Like Dave who’s a builder and Tracey who works at the bookies... just an idea #loveisland ".
