A Love Island fan was travelling home from his holiday and was shocked to see contestant Jacques O'Neill on the same plane because he was still to catch up with the latest episode. The fan hadn't got his latest fix of the ITV show and did not realise that Jacques had left the villa.
Rugby league star Jacques decided to quit the show last week after admitting that he wasn't feeling himself. His family also revealed that he had struggled with his emotions, after heated scenes in the villa.
The Hull man was waiting to board his flight back from Palma to Leeds-Bradford Airport when he spotted Jacques and realised that his time on the show was over. He went on to praise the star for stopping to take selfies with fans before heading back to the UK.
As reported in Hull Live, he said: "I was shocked seeing him as I didn’t catch up on the episodes due to been on holiday but then I saw him at the airport in Palma Nova, it was a complete shock to everyone there, the whole airport couldn’t believe it."
He added. "What I thought was most touching is that he took time to get pictures with people after what he explained to the viewers on Tuesday night. This completely changed the view of what others thought of Jacques."
After quitting the villa, it was confirmed that Jacques had dropped in on training at his former club Castleford Tigers yesterday (Wednesday). While the club have first dibs on re-signing him, should he wish to resume his playing career, head coach Lee Radford said no discussions had been held. The 23-year-old has also recently signed a modelling contract with FOMO models.
During the latest series of ITV's Love Island, Jacques paired up with Welsh beauty Paige Thorne. In the Casa Amor, Jacques fell to temptation and was un-loyal to Paige when he tested his "connection" and kissed and shared a bed with fellow Yorkshire contestant Cheyanne.
Despite straying with Cheyanne, Jacques appears to still long for Paige. On Tuesday's episode, he said he'd be ready to "pick her up from the airport" when she eventually leaves the villa.
Jacques' ex-girlfriend Gemma Owen, the international dressage rider and daughter of the former England footballer Michael Owen, remains a contestant on the show.
