Love Island fans make more than 5,000 complaints in one week during Casa Amor drama

The Love Island drama has lead to more than 5,000 official complaints being lodged.

Angered viewers have sent their complaints to broadcasting watchdog Ofcom as the ITV2 dating show aired its Casa Amor twist.

Every year the introduction of the infamous neighbouring villa to the main house and a group of new singletons ruffles feathers.

This year, it was Liam Reardon's head being turned that caused the most chatter as partner Mille Court eagerly awaited his return.

But viewers were also left fuming after Teddy Soares was pictured on the crucial postcard kissing a new islander in a game of truth or dare - leaving Faye Winter willing to ditch her partner.

In the week between Tuesday, July 27 and Monday, August 2, Ofcom received a staggering 5,249 complaints about the programme.

The majority of the complaints - 4,330 - were from people who said the postcard sent back to the original girls in the main villa was 'misleading and caused unnecessary distress', the Mirror reports.

Faye was fuming at Teddy after seeing the image and recoupled with new boy Sam.

But Teddy arrived back in the villa, clutching Faye's teddy, alone after choosing to stay with Faye.

Viewers, however, were left angered as they felt the postcard depicted Teddy in an unfair light.

The latest round of complaints comes after Love Island was hit with more than 1,500 Ofcom comments over the casting of islander Danny Bibby.

The regulator confirmed the 1,507 were in regards to casting after it was revealed Danny used a racial slur on social media in 2019.

Danny left the show just a few days later after being dumped by his fellow islanders in a recoupling.
