Love Island viewers were left fuming during Sunday night’s explosive instalment of the ITV2 after an emotional chat between Jake and Liberty.
Following on from the bombshell drama of the villa’s movie night, tonight’s episode saw Liberty pull Jake aside for a word after a heartbreaking clip showed Jake confess his true feelings about the blonde beauty during their first few days in the villa.
Liberty was left shattered when Jake admitted that he didn’t get the urge to ‘rip her clothes off’ in the early days of their relationship.
Although the couple have gone from strength-to-strength during their time in the villa, having been coupled-up since day one, they appear to be at a huge road block since the explosive clip aired.
Fan favourite Liberty scolded Jake for his heartless words as she admitted that it came as a huge blow to her.
“I felt like bursting into tears when I heard that. It really, really hurt me to hear that Jake,” Liberty admitted.
In a bid to reassure his leading lady once and for all, Jake insisted that his feelings and sexual attraction grew the more he got to know Liberty.
However, fans were left livid when Jake labelled Liberty as an ‘idiot’ during the emotional chat.
After Liberty quizzed her beau on whether or not his feelings are stronger now in comparison to when he made the confession, Jake’s response left a sour taste in viewers mouths.
“Babe obviously my feelings have grown, you idiot. You’re my girlfriend,” he quipped.
“I’m always watching you walk around and I’m thinking to myself ‘ugh, I want to rip her clothes off’.”
While Liberty laughed off Jake’s joke, others found it ‘rather insulting’.
Taking to Twitter, fans blasted Jake for his poor choice of words.
“Jake calling Liberty an idiot was a bit uncalled for now,” fumed one fan.
“Jake really digging himself a grave calling Libs an idiot. There was no need,” someone else echoed.
“Wow! Jake has really shown his lack of maturity. Do not call out girl an idiot. She is the sweetest soul,” another fan insisted.
Meanwhile, someone else shared: “It’s a no from me Jake. You’re the idiot.”
