Love Island fans joke Joe has returned to the villa as they spot 'mysterious stranger' by the pool

Love Island fans thought they “spotted a stranger” in the villa lurking just next to the infinity pool.

Eagle-eyed viewers joked Joe Garratt had returned to “watch” Lucie Donlan after they were forced apart by the public dumping earlier in the week.

Posting a screenshot with the mysterious figure circled, one user wrote: “This will be Joe in 24 hours #LoveIsland #LoveIsIand.”

Others shared the same picture with similar comments about “stalking” Lucie, who was left single after the savage twist saw Joe dumped from the island.

But the “stranger” is likely to be a moving camera designed to roam the villa and capture all the action, in this case by the barely-used infinity pool.

After his villa departure, Garratt defended himself against claims he was “abusive” towards Lucie during their brief romance in the villa.

The sandwich man denied he was in any way “manipulative” towards Lucie, who was left in tears during an intense chat about her friendship with Tommy Fury.

“I didn’t manipulate or abuse her,” Garratt told The Sun Online. “I am gutted that it has been perceived in that way because it wasn’t like that at all.

“I am not going to say sorry. I may have worded things wrong and the cameras are on you 24/7. I may have slipped up a bit but I am only human.”

His best friends also defended his honour in a lengthy Instagram post, blaming the producers for “showing him in a non-representative light”.

They wrote: “Speaking on behalf of Joe’s best friends, we acknowledge Joe will come out to some warranted criticism.

“However, we deem the majority of it to be unfair and non-representative of Joe’s true character.”

Love Island is on ITV2, tonight at 9pm
