Love Island fans in disbelief as Tommy gets WW1 date and French capital wrong

Love Island fans were left in despair last night as Tommy Fury made some epic blunders.

The boxer may be good in the ring but his general knowledge definitely needs some improvement.

The 20-year-old told Molly-Mae Hague he was "very knowledgeable" then failed spectacularly at some very basic geography and history questions.

He was unable to name the capital of France and incorrectly guessed when World War One started.

While sitting by the pool, Tommy pleasantly surprised Molly-Mae by revealing that Neptune is the Greek god of water.

He said: "Ain’t just a pretty face babe. The only way I know that is through Spongebob."

However, the correct answer is actually Poseidon - while Neptune is the Roman God of the sea.

Things didn't get much better when Tommy asked Molly-Mae what year World War One started.

After waiting a few seconds, hesitant Molly-Mae guessed that it was 1964.

If that wasn't bad enough, Tommy corrected her and said it was actually 1931, when we all should know it's actually 1914.

Stunned viewers took to Twitter after watching the awkward conversation.

One viewer said: "We need to talk about how these islanders don't know when World War One is. That's ridiculous. 1964? 1939? Goodness me!! 1914 to 1918. Go learn your history!"

"Did Molly-Mae actually just say World War 1 started in 1964 and Tommy replied "no it started in 1931"," added another.

A third said: "Did Molly-Mae just saw WW1 started in 1964 followed by Tommy saying t was 1931! I actually can’t are they real humans?"

There was an awkward silence when Tommy was asked what the capital of France is - but somehow he knew Pi was 3.14 (to three figures).

Love Island viewers could not believe that Tommy knew Pi but not the capital of France.

"I’m still a little bit tickled that #Tommy knew that pi was 3.14 but he didn’t know the capital of France," tweeted one viewer.

Another added: "Tommy Fury has clearly had his brain knocked out... doesn't know the capital of France"

"Crying at tommy being like “i’m v knowledgeable, ask me anything” n then not knowing the capital of france," a third said.

*Love Island airs tonight at 9pm on ITV2
