Love Island's Ovie comes to Newcastle to play basketball and celebrate his birthday

He is regarded as one of the best Love Island contestants ever and quite possibly the nicest man in the whole world and on Friday, Ovie Soko sparked quite a reaction when he arrived in Newcastle.

On Thursday, Ovie, who won the hearts of the nation when he appeared on the hit ITV2 last summer, senT Geordie fans of the show into near meltdown with one simple tweet when he posted "I'm on my way to Newcastle, what is a good place to eat?"

His post quickly gathered loads of responses, with restaurants appealing for him to come and tuck into their food, while fans gave him a host of interesting suggestions ranging from Babucho to The Bigg Market Chippy, Dabbawal to Jakki’s Chinese on Heaton Park Road and Aveika to Greggs.

There were also a Love Island admirer chancing their luck by simply replying "my house."

And while we don't know where he ending up eating, we do know he celebrated turning 29 at Aveika into the wee small hours on Saturday, after he'd played basketball for London Lions against Newcastle Eagles.

Those who spotted him got massively excited, with him getting loads of female attention, while others were massively gutted they didn't get a chance to meet him and get a selfie at the place where Love Island best mate Amber Gill used to work as a hostess.

One fan tweeted "You think I won’t roam the streets of Newcastle for the next couple days on the off chance I bump into Ovie??" and another reacted "I can’t believe this life. Ovie in Newcastle the one weekend I’m not????? WHY."

Unfortunately, as she was flying back from a break in Tobago, Amber couldn't join the party but she did tweet to say her family were going to support Ovie in his basketball match.

She posted "Good luck on the game in NCL sorry I couldn't be there but the gill family are there to support instead have a lush time in Newcastle x"
