Love Island fans fear for Shaughna's mental health as they rally for bosses to intervene

It's been a whirlwind of a time in the villa for Shaughna Phillips so far, but what seems like fun drama to us has not quite been the same for her.

And Love Island fans are now beginning for worry for the outspoken islander, as tensions flew high after last night's episode.

As the boys flocked to Casa Amor to meet six new single girls, Shaughna's man Callum Jones revealed his head is "scrambled" after getting close to Molly Smith.

And after the episode showed Shaughna worrying about how Callum is getting on in the other villa, Callum seems to have forgotten about Shaughna.

Viewers are now rallying for ITV bosses to get involved, as they fear for the London beauty's mental health should Callum return with Molly.

But despite the surge of concerns for the islander, ITV bosses have a robust aftercare plan in place for contestants after they leave the villa.

Islanders will receive training on dealing with social media and advice on finance and adjusting to life back home, as well as a minimum of eight therapy sessions once they return.

And after their stint on the show, bosses are set to keep in contact with islanders for 14 months after the series in which they have appeared has ended, with additional help provided when needed.

And contestants have access to a psychological consultant throughout the whole series - from pre-filming to aftercare.

But despite having the best care available to the islanders, fans are still worried for Shaughna and took to Twitter to voice their growing concerns.

One person wrote on Twitter: "I’m genuinely really concerned for Shaughna's mental health. She’s clearly a very insecure girl and this is absolutely going to shatter her confidence and soul.

"I think they should warn her or pull her out before Callum returns, I don’t want a repeat of poor Amy," referring to Amy Hart, who left the villa.

Another viewer penned: "The impact love island has on its contestants mental health is evident.

"I just cannot imagine what it’ll do to Shaughna’s mental health and being able to trust someone again.

"I wouldn't like to think how it must feel to stand there having stayed to see him walk in with a girl."

While a third added: "I'm genuinely concerned for Shaughna's mental health. I hope the producers don't keep her in the dark for drama's sake and destroy her self-confidence.

"And if she decides to leave the villa, I hope she stays away from social media because people are vicious and cruel."

And a fourth wrote: "After seeing how much Shaughna is struggling I kind of feel guilty for enjoying a show that messes up with people's mental health."
