Love Island fans expose bombshell Tom for lying to co-stars twice after debut

Love Island 2023 's bombshell Tom Clare has some explaining to do, after viewers caught him lying twice in his debut episode.

The newcomer gave two different versions, when asked what his type was when it came to girls.

Not only did he make one claim to the boys and then a different claim to the girls, but later in the episode he made a decision that made no sense to viewers.

Tom had to pick who to couple up with out of Tanya Manhenga, Lana Jenkins, Anna-May Robey, Tanyel Revan and Olivia Hawkins.

They were already paired up with one of the original boys, including Kai Fagan, Ron Hall, Will Young, Shaq Muhammad and Haris Namani.

Tom decided to gather the girls together to speak to them, before he pulled each of them for a chat alone.

But it was something he said to the boys that he then backtracked on to the girls that left viewers confused.

He had been asked by the guys what his type was, to which he claimed he liked blondes - but when asked the same question by the girl Islanders, he claimed he did not have a type at all.

After keeping back the fact he apparently had a preference over hair colour, he then left viewers completely bemused when he decided to couple up with Olivia, who is brunette.

Fans had believed he would choose Lana who was blonde, given he claimed to the boys that blondes "were his type".

Now, viewers have taken to Twitter to point out that Tom lied about his type to either the boys or the girls, and his actions did not make sense.

One fan said: "Did someone highlight how Tom lied to the girls saying he had no type and when the boys asked him he immediately said 'blondes'?"

Another tweeted: "What happened to 'my type is blonde' how can one change so fast?"

A third fan added: "From personality to 'I like blondes' MEN ARE LIARS."

The comments kept on coming too with another reading: "I mean he said his type was blonde though," as a fifth viewer wrote: "how is tom saying he’s into blondes then picks Olivia?"

Meanwhile, Tom immediately sparked drama on Tuesday night, leaving one Islander fuming and being told to "chill".

Haris called out the newcomer in front of the rest of the boys, as Tom immediately made a play for the women.

Tom's arrival, as voted for by the public, left the boys worried as they realised they could lose their girl.

So when Tom immediately caused drama after his debut, as he decided to speak to the girls before getting to know the boys, one Islander fumed.

Haris was told to "chill" as he got irritated about it before slamming Tom, while he quickly tried to downplay it as a joke.

He told the other boys: "Mate he's having a chat with them birds boys, I'm telling you all them girls."

Ron, stunned by his annoyance, said back: "Mate, don't worry about it. Chill. Don't worry about it, it's fine."

Haris then hit out at Tom, saying: "Nah he should... I'm not worried mate, he should be introducing himself to us init."

As the camera panned over to Tom and the girls at the firepit, he asked them: "What are the lads like?"

Tanyel then quipped: "They probably liked you until you turned around and said you'd speak to the girls first..."

Haris soon shouted out at him: "Tom! You've got 30 seconds, Tom. If you don't come over here mate."

Love Island airs every night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX
