Love Island fans declare Shaq 'king' after 'calling out' Ron

Love Island fans have been praising Shaq Muhammad for "calling out" Ron Hall for his treatment of Lana Jenkins. The airport security officer, 24, confronted his fellow contestant during last night's show, February 1, in which he accused him of treating Lana like "a safety net".

Ron, 25, was accused of taking Lana for granted after he implied she would always see "he's better" than new bombshell Casey O'Gorman, who entered the villa yesterday alongside Jordan Odofin. The girls received a text, inviting them to meet the new boys by the pool for breakfast.

When it was the bombshells' time to pick their partner, Casey opted for Lana. Ron seemed unbothered by this, having previously left Lana feeling very upset when he admitted that his head had been turned by Samie Elishi, confessing that he "couldn't close the door" on their romance.

Last night, it seemed that some of Ron's fellow islanders had had enough of his behaviour, with Shaq calling him out besides the pool, with TikTok farmer Will Young joining in. Shaq's rant kicked off whilst Lana was on a new date with newcomer Casey, with the boys asking Ron how he felt about the situation.

"It's as if people don't believe when I say to people this is what we needed," the financial advisor said. "She'll feel the way I felt when she's grafting another fella and getting to know them, she can't say nothing about it. She needs to go and do that she needs to go and find out what sort of fella he is, and then realise I'm better."

Reflecting on Ron's relationship with Lana, Shaq said: "You and Lana were in a good place, the position you've put yourself in now, she's going to be a lot more open to Casey now."

Ron replied: "She needs to be more open, that's the point."

Shaq then asked whether Ron thinks he had done anything wrong in the "Lana situation", with Ron claiming the one thing he did wrong was something he "promised he'd never do". Shaq then hit out at Ron and slammed him for the way he has treated Lana.

"I'm gonna give you the honest, the way you've treated that girl is so out of order," Shaq said. "That girl has serious feelings for you, and I feel like you've taken advantage of her because she's such a nice girl and you feel like she's going to be there the whole time.

"And you've tuned your head, you've spoke to this girl, that girl whatever, you're saying one thing to Lana and then you're doing the complete opposite. I don't agree with how you've treated her, what you said and what you did are two completely different things."

Shaq asserted that, whilst Ron had said Lana was his "number one priority", but didn't stick to his word because he had tried to bond with other girls in the villa and test their connections. Ron replied: "All of you must think I treat her like a safety net, I know that she could drop me like that. That's why I said she needs to get to know Casey!"

Love Island fans were left on the edge of their seats as last night's episode ended on an infuriating cliffhanger, with viewers left waiting until tonight to see how Shaq reacted to Ron's response. On Twitter, many praised Shaq for "calling out" Ron.

Love Island continues tonight, February 2, at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
