Love Island fans cringe as Lucie Donlan tries to invent new catchphrase

Love Island 's Lucie Donlan may have had the men fighting over her during launch night, but some viewers at home were quick to brand her "cringe".

The curly haired beauty introduced viewers to the word "bev" in her entrance video tape – and she didn't mean drinks.

Revealing that she used the term to describe an attractive man, Lucie said: "In the villa, you're probably going to hear some new and weird words.

"A bev is a hot guy, if he's your boyfriend he's your bev, but if he's not your boyfriend he's a bev."

Lucy coined a new word - 'bev' (ITV2)

Surfer Lucie didn't stop there, also telling fans that she had invented other words and phrases, such as 'woof' and 'poofed off'.

She is yet to reveal what all of her new words mean.

After watching her VT,  many fans told her to give up with trying to make "bev" happen.

One wrote: "Anyone else cringing at Lucie and her catchphrases already?"

Lucy told fans they would be hearing the word a lot (ITV2)

While another added: "Lucie explaining Bev... do shut up love. #loveisland ".

"Bev ? - Is Lucie trying to coin the phrase of the season ? #LoveIsland ," a third chimed in.

As another joked: "Do you not think Lucie saying all that stuff about a lad being a ‘bev’ sounds like Gretchen in means Mean Girls trying to make ‘fetch’ happen #Loveisland2019 ".

Despite some criticism, Lucie won some over with her catchphrases.
