Love Island fans convinced Hugo Hammond is playing a game after he lets slip huge clue

Love Island fans are convinced contestant Hugo Hammond is playing a tactical game - just hours into the show.

The school teacher chose blonde bombshell Faye Winter to couple up with in the opening show of the new series last night.

But fellow contestant Toby Aromoloran snatched Chloe away with his choice, leaving Hugo to re-couple with civil servant Sharon Gaffka.

Hugo was initially rejected by all the girls in an embarrassing pill to swallow in the eagerly awaited return of the hit ITV2 show.

And when asked by presenter Laura Whitmore what he thought of being snubbed and being forced to find an alternative love-match, the show’s first-ever physically disabled contestant confidently announced he was in the show to play a “long game”.

“Hugo are you feeling?” enquired host Laura.

“I’m feeling alright, it’s a long game, not a short game,” replied Hugo.

He confidently added: “So we’ll be alright!”

Last night’s popular dating show saw five of the girls line up and one by one picked by the new boys who entered the villa.

And there was plenty of fun to be had by the sex-starved singletons as the stunning bikini-clad girls got pulses racing and the ripped lads mingled for the first time.

But PE teacher Hugo was relegated to the substitutes bench until Sharon came to his rescue.

However, in a fun twist to proceedings, all the boys were left to decide who should go on a date with mystery Chloe Burrows.

Chloe made a late appearance on the show and left a saucy voicemail for the lads, who now have decisions to make having already coupled up.

Financial services marketing executive Chloe has already shaken things up – and the latecomer could turn heads this early into the new show.

Hugo famously deceived his former pupils by telling them he was leaving for a new school.

But in fact the 24-year-old left his position in Devon to pursue a celebrity lifestyle.

And the new reality TV star admitted that his ex-pupils would likely get a “shock” when they found out he was on the show.

Hugo joked: “They will probably be a little bit shocked but hopefully they will be supportive and they will enjoy it."

Talking about the job he loved, Hugo admitted: "I teach secondary school PE. Absolutely love my job. I love all my sports.

“It’s great to be able to pass on that enthusiasm to be physically active to the younger generation and hopefully they feel the same about me teaching them.”
