Love Island fans call out 'con' contestant as they spot 'love bombing' tactic to make final

Love Island fans have called out one contestant for ‘love bombing’ on the ITV2 reality show, as the contestants faced a recoupling.

The ITV2 reality dating show returned with another explosive episode this week as the winter series gets well underway with new host Maya Jama.

Love Island has seen multiple romances blossom in the past days as the Islanders mark nearly two weeks since they walked into the South African villa.

Chief among the original couples created on the first day of the show is Shaq Muhammad and Tanya Manhenga, who have faced few bumps in the road since then.

As the Islanders faced a recoupling on Thursday evening, Shaq had a lot of major things to say during his speech as he waxed lyrical about the Liverpool star.

As Shaq stood to pick the girl he would like to couple up with he revealed: “I can genuinely see myself falling in love with her”.

The heartfelt sentiment left Tanya blushing, as she hid her face in her hair while her fellow Islanders around her grinned.

Yet viewers at home have been left suspicious over the scene, with many calling out the sentiment as an example of Shaq’s ‘love bombing’.

Love bombing is when a person showers a new partner with intense displays of affection early on in a relationship.

Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: “Tired of Shaq and his love bombing,” as a second echoed: “Shaq please LOVE ? In one week,” alongside a string of crying laughing emojis.

A third added: “Falling in love???? SIDE EYE!!” Another penned: “LOVE? Shaq? Shaq is such a con.”

“Still don’t see it for Shaq and Tanya idk,” a fellow fan concluded on social media.

It comes after the show revealed that Australian bombshells Aaron Waters and Jessie Wynter would be making the big decision on which boy and which girl would go home in the latest dumping.

The newcomers from the Australian spin-off of the ITV2 reality dating show were forced to choose, which resulted in them picking Anna-May Robey and Haris Namani packing their bags after an intense scene of back and forth.

Love Island airs every night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
