Love Island fans call out Amy for claiming Lucie and Joe ‘stole her thunder’ for going ‘exclusive’ on same night

Love Island fans were unimpressed with Amy as she claimed that fellow contestants Lucie and Joe “stole her thunder.”

The flight attendant was not happy when the pair announced that they are an “exclusive” couple on the same day that she and “half-boyfriend” Curtis had discussed their relationship status.

Curtis asked Amy to become his “half-girlfriend” during the couple’s first night in the Hideaway, and the pair shared the news with the islanders when they returned to the villa’s communal space the next morning.

Lucie and Joe then decided that they would not “get to know” any other islanders after their paddle boarding date that afternoon.

Amy took issue with the pair’s announcement, describing it as “a bit of a coincidence” and “keeping up with the Joneses.”

“It’s a bit of a coincidence that on the night me and Curtis announce we are exclusive that someone else does as well,” she confessed in the Beach Hut.

“I feel like Joe and Lucie stole our thunder a bit.

“I just think, what about tomorrow? Why not make it special instead of just thinking, ‘Oh they’ve done it, why don’t we do it?’ It’s like keeping up with the Joneses.”

Earlier in the episode, Amy told Curtis that Lucie “never” spends time with the “group of girls” as she prefers to chat with Joe and Tommy.

Viewers quickly called the islander out for her comments, describing them as “unfair” and even suggesting that she could be “playing games.”

“Feels like Amy and Curtis are playing the games if anything why should they be bothered who becomes exclusive?” one fan wrote.

“Really like Curtis&Amy but thought it was a little unfair what she said about Lucie&Joe in tonight’s #LoveIsland,” another weighed in. “I really hope that the fact Amy being in a strong couple doesn’t make her a little arrogant thinking she’s better than everyone else as she’s better than that.”

“Amy and Curtis showing their true colours calling out #Jucie for keeping up with the Joneses!!! It is what it is,” a third wrote, while another added: “What is Amy on about Lucie and Joe stealing their thunder? Girl its [sic] not all about you, get over yourself.”

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
