Love Island fans would like to see former star Maura Higgins host hit show

Love Island fans have suggested that they would like to see former contestant Maura Higgins at the helm presenting the show.

Fans of the popular dating series were left confused as to why presenter Laura Whitmore has been absent from several shock dumpings over the past month.

Whitmore, who has reportedly received £600,000 for just 12 minutes of screen time according to the Sun, has not been seen in the villa since its launch.

The Star announced on this week’s After Sun show that she will be returning to our screens for the biggest twist yet this season as the boys return from Casa Amor.

The presenter took to her Instagram account to explain to fans why she has not been in Majorca, where the show is filmed, as often as usual.

She said: "Logistically, it's tougher than when I went out for the coupling up.

"The Balearic Islands were in amber, so when I did that, I had to isolate for five days, I'm not sure everyone knew that."

However, some fans have suggested that Maura Higgins would have been a better fit to present this year's show.

One Twitter user said: “Maura Higgins should host Love Island”.

Other fans were quick to agree with the tweet as they highlight that this year's Love Island could do with a bit more spice and said that Maura would have made the show more interesting.

They said: “I fell like she have got that like sassy personality aswell she would be class as the host !!!”

Another said: “I feel that would make it at least 50% more interesting. Especially after this years so far…”

Another fan suggested that both Maura and Laura should co-host the show.

They said: “It certainly would have made sense for @loveisland to have hired @MauraHiggins to host the on-island stuff this year (due to covid issues/Laura’s baby), with Laura still doing Aftersun/interviews in the UK.

“Laura & Maura, both Irish, co-hosting. Would be nice branding.”
