Tommy Fury has delivered a hard fact on Love Island viewers which has been more sobering than ice cold water being poured on an amorous couple in the Hideaway.
For the 20-year-old boxing star has left many viewers feeling alarmed, distressed, and turned-off by the fact that he was born in the year that late musician Prince loved to sing about.
Born on 7 May, the Taurus alarmed many watching the show at home when he openly stated that he had been born in 1999.
The fact that his birth occurred just months before the turn of the century left many older Love Island viewers feeling they were very old indeed.
“I’ve just heard tommy fury say “I was born in ‘99” and honestly I feel like a pensioner wow. 1999,” one astonished fan wrote, taking to Twitter after realising the reality of the world.
“When Tommy fury says he was born in 1999 and you feel like a grandmother,” wrote another.
Some fans realised they already knew Tommy was 20 - but hearing say the year of his birth out loud somehow made it all the more sobering.
“I mean, I knew tommy fury was 20 but hearing him say 'i was born in 1999'. what. the. f***,” wrote on fan.
Another feared she was old enough to be her son, tweeting: “when he declares he was born in #1999 and you know deep down he is the same age as your daughter.”
But seemingly some fans were completely turned off by Tommy’s age.
“Just found out Tommy Fury was born in 1999. I dunno if I can fancy him anymore,” one unimpressed fan tweeted.
Of course, Tommy has an older brother called Tyson Fury - who is 30-years-old and a boxing champion.
However, Tyson has said watching his brother on TV makes his stomach flip as he realises how much better looking his younger sibling is.
“I’m usually quite jealous of how they all look. Me being a fat man, they’re all ripped, it’s not something I wanna watch all the time, it makes me feel bad about myself,” Tyson said of the male Love Island contestants during a chat with Good Morning Britain last month.
Love Island continues tonight with a new episode airing on ITV2 at 9pm - while spin-off show Love Island: After Sun continues at 10pm.
