Love Island fans accuse show of 'hating women' after letting Adam Collard return

Love Island fans are stunned by the decision to send Adam Collard back to the villa after he was accused of "gaslighting" and "emotional abuse" in 2018's series.

The shows producers were accused of "hating women" after the 26-year-old was picked to return to "ruffle some feathers".

Viewers pointed out that his behaviour was so bad that domestic abuse charity Women's Aid had to release a statement at the time.

One furious fan wrote: "Eh! Love Island is begging to be cancelled at this point. Adam back???? ADAM. The ONE participant that was so mentally abusive that women's charities were releasing statements about him?????"

"I never want to see the Love Island bosses/producers pretend to care about mental health again. Not after bringing Adam back, the guy that was so bad Women’s Aid had to write a statement on him,” a second chimed.

One wrote: "Wait is this not the Adam that gaslighted and manipulated several different women seasons ago? Weird move love island lol."

Another fumed: “Not enough toxic men in there, eh? They just had to bring Adam back.”

Women's Aid stated that there were "clear warning signs in Adam's behaviour" of "emotional abuse" at the time he was on the show.

He was hit with huge criticism for the way he treated Rosie Williams.

However, not everyone was up in arms over the new addition to the villa.

“I hope Adam isn’t here to show personal growth, we need that record Ofcom complaints energy, the think pieces, national headlines,” one penned.

Another praised the "toxic" show: "“Adam is the biggest villain in Love Island history so this is so so perfect. I think this might be the most toxic Love Island season so far.”

Adam's family have stuck up for him, releasing a statement on social media: "Say what you will, this is a reality game show! [sic]"

The Geordie became the first contestant to strip naked and had the first kiss of the 2018 series.

Adam first coupled up with Kendall Knight, then he had a kiss with Rosie during a game of Truth or Dare.

Then Rosie performed a sex act on Adam in the bedroom before he jumped ship and coupled up with Zara McDermott.

Then once he'd decided Zara wasn't for him, he partnered up with Darylle Sargeant before they were dumped from the Island.

He and Zara then rekindled their romance when they had left the show and even moved in with each other - before splitting for good eight months later.
