Love Island couple Alex Bowen and Olivia Buckland reveal their early favourites to win the show

After finding love on the ITV2 dating show Love Island, and becoming the first couple from the show to get married, Alex Bowen and Olivia Buckland are well-placed to spot another budding summer romance.

The pair haven't even sat down to watch this year's series properly, and are planning to binge watch the first week, but they still think they've spotted this year's potential winners.

The 2016 runners-up are tipping air hostess Amy Hart and dancer Curtis Pritchard to go the distance take home the £50,000 prize.

Olivia told us: "To be honest, we can keep up with what’s going on just by looking at the memes on Twitter. "From what we’ve seen so far, Joe seems to be a little bit controlling, but when you’re in there it’s so easy to get carried away as every day feels like a week.

"We also like Yewande, it’s so amazing that she has beauty and brains. We also really like Amy and Curtis, they are our early favourites."

Alex added: "Yeah, we are tipping them to win."

The couple, who were in the second series with Manchester's Scott Thomas, married in a lavish Essex wedding last September.

They are planning to sit down together and watch series five so far in full.

"Binge watching is the best because I hate being left on a cliff hanger," said Alex.

Asked what advice they would give to this year's Islanders, Alex said: "Our advice is just to be yourself and stay true to yourself. Don’t regret any decisions you make whilst you are in there, because no matter what comments you get from people on the outside your friends and family will always be there for you."

And Olivia said:  "I agree, it’s such a once in a lifetime opportunity so my advice would be that they should enjoy every minute of the experience.

"It may feel a little bit crazy at times but it opens so many doors and really changes your life."

Alex and Olivia spent the day in Manchester on Friday, meeting fans at the Arndale in collaboration with the VK Sorts Your Summer campaign with New Look.

The event included styling sessions with Alex and Olivia.

The couple, who say their favourite place to eat in town is Rosso at Spring Gardens, posed for selfies with 1,000 people at the Arndale and went on a shopping spree at Selfridges in their break.

"It’s hard to smile for so long but we loved meeting everyone. Mancs are so friendly," they said.
