Love Island could film in Jersey if travel restrictions still in place this summer, reports claim

ITV bosses are reportedly considering filming Love Island in Jersey if international travel restrictions are still in place this summer.

After last year’s summer series of ITV’s dating show was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, Love Island is currently scheduled to return this year with an eight-week season.

As reported by the MailOnline, the show is hoping to film in Majorca once again, with production being pushed back from its usual June start date to July in hope of overseas flying restrictions lifting.

All the islanders, including “bombshells” who arrive mid-season, will fly out at the same time and quarantine before entering the villa.

However, should another wave of Covid hit the UK and overseas travel remains banned, ITV reportedly have Jersey on standby for filming.

It has also been reported that the winter Love Island series, which filmed in South Africa early in 2020, has been scrapped indefinitely to focus on the summer series.

The Independent has contacted ITV for comment.

ITV announced earlier this year that Love Island would be returning in the summer as part of the channel’s forthcoming programming, providing relief to fans after the show’s future appeared unclear.
