Love Island contestant reveals what happens when islanders get texts

Shannon Singh has revealed what happens when islanders get a text in the Love Island villa.

Fans of the ITV2 series will know the contestants all have phones, which are used to inform them of challenges, dates, new bombshells, public votes and recouplings.

And now former contestant Shannon, who was first to be dumped from the show just 48 hours after it started, has shared some juicy behind-the-scene details.

The 23-year-old from Scotland, who was one of the first contestants of 2021 to shout "I've got a text" on the series, revealed all on her Twitch channel, including whether their phones display the time, reports DailyRecord.

She said: "OK, so inside scoop from inside the villa! I've seen loads of like conspiracy theories that we actually do know the time and stuff.

"The phones are literally just programmed with a group chat of everyone, so that people can text each other.

"They definitely don't have the time, nobody tells you. You're not allowed to know."

Shannon, who left the villa after just two days, said: "So with the phones you communicate with other Islanders, and also find out you're getting dumped like I did.

"Honestly, some of the conspiracy theories that I've read. I just think it's hilarious."

She added: "You don't seem to realise that you get the text and then you pack up straight away.

"You have to leave as soon as you get the text. You say bye, and then you're out."

"I got out and I got in the taxi and I was like, 'Oh, what is the time?' It was like 10 past four in the morning! I was mortified."

"It was awful. But I'm here, I'm grateful. I'm happy."

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
