Love Island bosses 'cutting out' sex scenes to protect contestants' wellbeing after villa

Love Island bosses have reportedly been 'cutting out' sex scenes from the ITV2 show in order to protect the contestants' mental health.

Over the last few days it looks like some of the couples have been getting hot and heavy under the duvet as soon as the lights go out.

In previous years, intimate moments have been shown - but the 2021 series has been rather PG so far.

It seems this is a conscious decision from the Love Island producers, who have edited out the X-rated moments as part of their duty of care for the stars of the show.

A source told The Sun: "Obviously a lot of what happens in the villa doesn't make it to air - a lot of things have gone down in the bedroom when lights go out, but producers are sparing cast's blushes and cutting it out - just hinting at it with occasional shots, or airing conversations the cast have afterwards."

The Mirror have contacted a representative for Love Island asking for comment.

During Tuesday's episode, Millie and Liam, Chloe and Toby, and Liberty and Jake were all seen making suspicious movements together under the covers once the lights were switched off.

Viewers were convinced the couples were getting down and dirty, with one person tweeting: "ARE THEY ALL HAVING SEX RIGHT NOW?!"

Teddy even probed Toby on the noises he'd heard during the night - but Toby dodged the question.

And when the girls discussed it the following morning, Millie giggled that she and Liam are "pretty quiet" as Liam "shushes" her if there's any noise.

During Monday's episode, viewers said they felt "sick" after witnessing some rapid movements in Liam and Millie's bed.

When the camera panned to their bed, the pair could be seen moving rather vigorously underneath the white duvet, leading many fans to ask what exactly was going on.

Taking to Twitter, one person asked: "Ohhh Liam and Mille. What was going on there??? #LoveIsland."

Another wrote: "MILLIE AND LIAM NO I FEEL SICKKKK #loveisland."

A third person claimed: "Millie & Liam getting freaky for the second night in a row #LoveIsland."

Someone else asked: "wtf was gonna on under those sheets millie and liam? #LoveIsland."

Another Love Island viewer stated: "Millie and Liam were deffffffo doing the naughty #LoveIsland."

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
