Love Island bosses are in 'constant contact' with Caroline Flack and say 'door is open' for return

Love Island bosses have said they are in “constant contact” with Caroline Flack, following the former host’s assault charge.

Flack was forced to quit Love Island in December after she was arrested and charged with assault by beating when police were called to her home in Islington, north London. She pleaded not guilty to assault and her trial is due to begin on 4 March.

The presenter is alleged to have hit Burton over the head with a lamp, causing injury.

Showrunner Amanda Stavri told The Mirror: “We are continuing to talk to Caroline. We are in constant contact and the door is open.”

Flack said she was experiencing “the worst time in my life” ahead of a court appearance in December.

Laura Whitmore, who is in a relationship with the Love Island narrator Iain Stirling, has stepped in to present the show’s first winter edition, which is currently being filmed in Cape Town, South Africa.

During an appearance on This Morning on Thursday, Whitmore revealed that Flack had texted her to give her blessing before she took on hosting duties. Whitmore admitted it had been a “whirlwind” few weeks.

The new series begins on Sunday (12 January).
