Love Island Australia start date confirmed as very familiar face stars on show

Love Island fans will still be able to get their fix this summer despite lockdown forcing the show to bin filming.

Instead of the usual UK series, ITV2 will be airing the first and only series of the Australian version of the dating show.

And we don't have to wait too long - the show starts airing on ITV2 on Monday 15th June AT 9pm.

A tweet from the official Love Island Twitter account read: "Missing your Love Island fix this summer? Catch Love Island: Australia every night from Monday 15th June on @itv2 and @itvhub #LoveIslandAus ".

The tweet also included a video teaser of some of the hit singletons we will be watching flirt and find love over the summer.

ITV confirmed on Wednesday: "Starting later this month and airing nightly on ITV2, the Australian version of the UK’s favourite dating show is hosted by Sophie Monk and narrated by Eoghan McDermott.

"The series sees a bunch of sizzling Aussie singles embark on the ultimate summer of love, leaving the Australian winter behind them, as they take up residence in a luxury villa in Mallorca.

"Playing the definitive game of love, the Aussie Islanders will get to know each other in the hope of finding romance.

"But as new bombshells arrive on the Island, which couples will stand the test of time and make it all the way to the final, and have a chance of bagging the $50,000 cash prize?"

One contestant viewers may recognise is John James Parton, 32, who appeared on Big Brother in 2010, and had a fling with eventual winner Josie Gibson.

And speaking of Big Brother - fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the show is set to return for a special anniversary series later this month.

Opening the Diary Room up once again, hosts Davina McCall and Rylan Clark-Neal will look back on the most iconic Big Brother episodes throughout its 20-year history.

Coming to E4, Big Brother: Best Shows Ever will air on 14 June and is set to run for ten episodes, according to the MailOnline.
