A new series of Love Island started on ITV2 on Monday night but there was one big issue for some viewers - it wasn't actually new, but a repeat of a series first shown two years ago.
With the coronavirus pandemic thwarting plans for a new series of Love Island last year and no winter version either, ITV promised to inject some much needed sun into lockdown, declaring the 'Aussies are back.'
Hoever, while series 2 of Aussie Love Island, hosted by Sophie Monk, might have been unfamiliar to some reality TV fans, others quickly realised they'd seen it before.
One tweeted: "So Love Island: Australia isn’t new? I’ve seen it before - disappointing," and a second reacted: "FFS! Thought it was a new Love Island Australia.. I’ve seen the whole series on ITV player already"
A third posted: "I’m gonna get absolutely dragged for this, but has this Love Island Australia been aired on ITV before? I feel like I’ve seen it but I haven’t streamed it or anything," while another who'd seen it before, posted: "Before you get excited, Love Island Australia is absolutely not as entertaining as MAFS Australia or love island UK"
The second series of Love Island Australia sees singles living it up in a villa in Fiji as they have their eyes on romance and the $50,000 prize.
Single girls seen in episode 1 included lifeguard Cartier and model Cynthia, while the lads looking for love include plasterer Adam and personal trainer Gerard.
Because the show was first aired in the autumn 2019, spoiler as to what happens are all over the internet, so if you're watching it for the first time you may want to stay off Twitter while it's on.
