Love Island announces major twist ahead of show launch as fans decide the first bombshell

Love Island fans will get the chance to choose the first bombshell to enter the villa for the first time in show history.

The ITV2 show is returning for its winter installment on Monday, January 16, and viewers have already been introduced to a fresh batch of Islanders looking for love in South Africa.

But, show bosses have introduced a new twist ahead of this year’s edition and announced that fans will get the opportunity to vote for the first bombshell to enter the series.

Viewers can choose between 25-year-old Ellie Spence, a Business Development Executive, or Tom Clare, a 23-year-old semi-pro footballer from Barnsley, as the first bombshell to wreak havoc among the Islanders.

Voting for the bombshell opened at 8am on Thursday and can be done via the Love Island App.

The bombshell which receives the highest number of votes will be chosen to enter the villa. Voting will close at 9pm on Friday, January 13.

Ellie Spence is a Business Development Executive (ITV)

Love Island hopeful Ellie has said she has her sights firmly set on settling down and finding a husband on the show after a “dry” few years.

She shared: “I’ve been single for three years and the roster is pretty dry, it’s been dry for the last year, I don’t know what happened, it’s just not been a great time for me so I’m ready to find my husband.”

Meanwhile, Tom also revealed that he wants to find the one, explaining: “Since my ex, no-one’s really come to me and I’ve thought, ‘Wow’. Until I have that, I’m not going to settle for less.

“Not in a bad way, but the next person I get with, I want to marry.

Tom Clare, 23, hails from Barnsley (ITV)

“I want to meet someone. It’s good going out and having a laugh but I miss sharing stuff. Life’s too short. These opportunities don’t come around often.

“I’m a good laugh, a good vibe. I’m not snakey, I don’t like that kind of stuff.”
