Love Island Amy Hart's dad insists she's not acting in the villa - and takes a pop at Lucie

Love Island star Amy Hart's dad says she's never been happier than she is with Curtis Pritchard - and insists she's being real in the villa.

Funeral director Ian also took a bit of a pop at Lucie Donlan as he compared her chemistry with another Islander to the feelings growing between Amy and Curtis.

Ian has been tuning in to watch his daughter on the show every night - except when friends warn him he might not want to see what's happened.

But he said he's bursting with pride over the way she's coming across on screen.

He told heat magazine: "The thing that really pleases me is that we're seeing the Amy from Worthing. There's no act there, she's being who she is. That's important."

Ian says he encouraged Amy, 26, to go for it after first hearing about her applying for Love Island, and says his job has taught him that "we're only here once".

The proud dad said it would be "significant" for her to introduce Curtis to the family and that she's probably never had a boyfriend before because she didn't like anyone enough to bring him home to her loved ones.

He said: "Definitely. I do hope it is Curtis, because I think there's no act with him. He's got old-school manners - like that first date when he pulled the chair back for her. He's a 'proper bloke', as my granddad used to say."

Speaking of their first date, Ian compared the chemistry between Amy and Curtis to that between Lucie and Tommy Fury, who left Joe Garratt angry when he invited Lucie to meet him.

He said: "I was the first person to ever see Amy, and the first person to ever hold Amy, and when they went on that date, I have never seen her so happy. The fact that it was in front of the cameras was immaterial. The look on her face, there was nothing forced.

"I mean, Tommy and Lucie's date was a little bit of a stony silence, wasn't it? Like a counselling session. But I've never seen her that happy."

Ian even suggested he's happy to pay for the wedding if it goes that far and that he'd look forward to the couple's first dance, although he reckons Amy will need to practice.
