Love Island Amber responds to talk of Greg giving her his winnings after he dumped by her by text

It seemed like the whole of the country was rooting for them as they romped to a landslide victory on Love Island but now Amber Gill has spoken out against ex Greg O'Shea after he dumped her by text.

Not even two months have passed since Geordie beauty therapist Amber and Irish rugby player Greg triumphed in the Love Island final by a huge margin, splitting their £50,000 and each taking home £25,000.

Greg was in Gateshead just days after to meet Amber's family and then the pair celebrated her 22nd birthday together.

So it came as something as a shock earlier this month when it was revealed that Greg had dumped Amber, blaming the distance and their busy lives.

Well now, in an interview with The Sun's Fabulous  magazine, Amber says what her now ex can do with his share of their winnings.

Laughing off suggestions he should give her £25,000, she jokes "Nah, he can keep it."

Reaction to Amber winning

"I needed someone else to win and we won it together. I don't hate him, I'm just disappointed in him, really."

While in good spirits, Amber does feel let down by Greg and his lack of effort, saying "All wanted was a little bit of effort on his part to come to London or Newcastle to see me, and we'd had a discussion about that a couple of days before.

"Then he texted me on the day I was supposed to fly to Ireland.

"I think in the future I'll look back on this as a blessing in disguise.

"I can focus on work and spending time with my family and friends."
