Love Island has found itself at the centre of yet another “fix” controversy.
The ITV2 reality series is being accused of chopping and changing the rules in an attempt to keep Maura Higgins and Curtis Pritchard – two of this year’s most controversial contestants – in the show for as long as possible.
Following the dramatic recoupling in Thursday’s episode, which saw newcomer Francesca Allen pick dancer Curtis despite knowing Maura was interested in him, it was announced that one couple will be leaving the villa in tonight’s outing.
However, the show’s most recent additions – Francesca and Chris Taylor, who Maura was forced to select – are exempt from leaving meaning that their respective partners also won’t be leaving the villa.
Fans have pointed out that this is hugely convenient considering Maura and Curtis are generating the most discussion from this year’s series.
It’s also been pointed out that Francesca and Chris weren’t exempt from leaving the show on Thursday night, so producers’ decision to make them so now is somewhat questionable.
