Love Island 2023 finalists' salaries and unusual careers before villa fame

The Love Island final is just on the horizon and fans will discover which couple will be crowned this year's winners.

It's been an unusual series full of highs and lows for this year's Islanders, with Casa Amor causing plenty of tears and drama.

With dark horses Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan becoming the last minute surprise favourites to win, anything could happen.

But before they were lapping up luxury in the South African villa, what were our finalists doing before? And how much did they earn?

We take a look at what each of the stars' lives looked like before villa fame...

Sanam Harrinanan, social worker - £31,096 - £38,163

Sanam could make Love Island history this evening as the first Casa Amor star to win the ITV2 show.

The 24 year old, from Bedford, was the only girl brought back to the main villa from Casa after connecting with Kai Fagan.

Prior to Love Island, Sanam worked as a social worker. The average salary of a Bedford Borough Council social worker is from £31,096 to £38,163 per year.

Before heading into Casa, Sanam named Kai as the "number one" person she would want to couple up with.

"Kai is my number one," she said. "Job wise I think that we’d connect a lot and I think he’s cute!"

He's been there since the beginning, but Kai Fagan only appeared to really connect with someone when he walked into Casa Amor.

After clicking with Sanam, he brought her into the villa - much to the anger of former lover Olivia (despite the fact that she had recoupled too).

Since then, the pair have gone from strength to strength and look set to win the ITV2 show.

Before stepping foot in the villa, Kai worked as a science and PE teacher in Manchester and would have been on a salary of around £29,584 to £33,085, according to Glassdoor.

Ron Hall, financial advisor - £40,000

We've already seen Ron's stunning family home in Essex on Aftersun, leaving viewers stunned by its size and glamorous decor.

The financial advisor could be on a salary of £40,000, however if he were to move up the ranks, the 25-year-old could command £60,000 for a senior role.

Lana Jenkins, celebrity make-up artist - £39,000

Lana from Luton is a celebrity make-up artist, who was previously pictured with Michelle Keegan on the set of Brassic.

A make-up artist can earn an average salary of around £39,000 or roughly £20 an hour depending on the size of the job.

When she leaves the villa, false eyelash brand Eyelure could come knocking after the company worked with Millie Court, who won Love Island in 2021.

Shaq Muhammad, airport security - £29,000

Shaq works in airport security in a role which pays around £29,000 a year.

The Londoner has been on quite a journey on the show having been dumped then showered with affection by Tanya.

Many are now predicting the 24-year-old could clean up if he wins the show with a string of lucrative endorsement deals.

Tanya, biomedical science student and influencer - £32,000

Tanya has proved to be one of this year's more controversial Islanders after cheating on Shaq in Casa Amor, snubbing him by returning with another man - who she then dumped as she declared her love for Shaq.

It's all about the journey, right?

After graduating as a biomedical science student, Tanya's average salary in the NHS would be around £25,000 to £31,000.

As a fashion influencer she's already secured big brand deals with Boohoo, Simmi shoes and Ego footwear and could be earning up to £500 per post

Tom Clare, semi-pro footballer - £52,000

Tom has had his fair share of partners in the villa - hopping from Zara to Olivia and other Casa Amor girls, but he now seems very settled with Samie.

Outside of the villa, Tom plays semi-pro football. Players in his league can expect to be paid around £1,000 per week.

Samie Elishi, estate agent - £40,000

When she first entered the villa, Samie kept her cards close to her chest as she got to know each of the boys separately.

During the very first recoupling, she was picked up Kai - which she didn't seem too happy about after she and Ron became close.

Following their brief flirtation, Ron decided that his head was still firmly with Lana and Samie began to get close with Tom. Initially, her head seemed like it might be swayed by Casa Amor star Ryan, but she stayed firm.

Before Love Island, the 22 year old from London worked as an estate agent. In the capital, estate agents have average earnings of around £40,000.

*Love Island airs tonight at 9pm on ITV2
