Love Island 2022: Dubliner Dami Hope hotly tipped to win this year's show

Heartthrob Dami Hope has already been hotly tipped to win this year’s Love Island.

The sexy microbiologist, who is a big fan of star signs, is among the new cohort of 11 singletons hoping to find love in the eighth series of the dating show.

The Dubliner, 26, has already seen his odds shorten at BoyleSports, who make him an 11/2 shot from 8/1 to be part of the winning couple and take the £50,000 prize.

However, Luca Bish, a 23-year-old fishmonger from Brighton, is the 3/1 favourite to be the prize catch among the males.

The frontrunners for the girls include Gemma Owen, daughter of former England and Liverpool striker Michael.

The early betting makes her a 5/2 shot as last girl standing.

She shares the favourite’s tag with the first deaf contestant to enter the Spanish villa, model and dancer Tasha Ghouri.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said: “The first few episodes are always crucial, but Dubliner Dami Hope has already won the hearts of some Irish punters who are hopeful it’s written in the stars for the horoscope fanatic.

“We’ve cut his odds already off the back of some early support, so we’ll be keen to see if there is any chemistry early doors.”

Last night the eagerly awaited show kicked off on Virgin Media as the singletons met for the first time.

Paige, Indiyah, Tasha, Amber and Gemma all make their entrance and explore their new home and begin getting to know each other.

But before the girls had the chance to settle in, host Laura Whitmore makes her entrance and said: “Welcome to Love Island.”

The girls then lined up in front of the pool as the boys’ arrival was imminent.

Laura then said: “Well girls, it’s time to couple up. You thought you’d all be stepping forward for the boys you fancy the most.

“For the first time ever, we asked the public to play cupid and pick the boy they thought you should couple up with.”

The boys – Dami, Liam, Ikenna, Andrew and Luca – then made their entrance and met the girls for the first time.

One-by-one it’s revealed who the public have chosen to couple up.

But as the islanders continue getting to know each other, new boy Davide made his entrance, causing a stir among the boys.

Speaking in the Beach Hut, Luca said: “Davide! I was thinking I’m the good-looking Italian here and then you’ve sent that geezer through the door.”
