Love Island 2021: Viewers slam 'nonsensical' food challenge

The spit the roast challenge is a competition where one islander carries sauce in their mouth, passes into the mouth of their partner who then has to spit it out into a dish.

The unpopular challenge has occured in previous seasons and did not go down well with fans then either.

One viewer raised a concern, saying: "Covid season and the show runners thought it was still a good idea to do these challenges?"

Another agreed saying: "I would have thought Covid would have stopped this nonsensical challenge."

However someone offered a counterpoint, saying: "People making ofcom complaints about this challenge. How about all the snogging? Why don't ya'll complain about that?"

"Convince me that this food challenge is worth the social media followers because I’ve never understood." said another fan online.

One fan kept the kids in mind saying: "Hugo’s students watching their PE teacher spit food into people’s mouths"

Another pointed out that Rachel who had just been dumped may have dodged a bullet saying: "Rachel you went out just in time. Definitely not duck and wine kind of dining."

Love Island is at 9 pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
