Love Island 2021 viewers convinced they've worked out cliffhanger twist

Love Island viewers were left absolutely furious by Tuesday night's episode, which was the second instalment of the 2021 series.

The hour-long show ended on an epic cliffhanger as late arrival Chloe Burrows prepared to pick who she wanted to couple up with. You can read more about Chloe here.

However, despite the entire episode leading up to the moment, which would leave one of the original girls single and at risk of being dumped from the Island, the programme unexpectedly ended. If you missed it you can read more on it here.

A teaser for tonight's show [Wednesday, June 30] then played out, which showed several islanders gasping and shouting "what the f**k".

Host Iain Stirling could be heard saying "someone's in for a shock" before a text message sound rang out.

And judging by the reactions from this year's contestants, whatever it is must have jaw-dropping repercussions on the villa.

Clearly, there's more in store than a simple recoupling. And while Love Island fans will have to wait until the next episode to find out why, many viewers have their own theories, reports The Mirror.

So who does Chloe pick on Love Island and what happens next? This is what fans think.

One viewer questioned if the newly single girl would be first to leave, as others guessed another contestant would be picked to go home.

Annoyed, one fan wrote: "Tomorrow's 'twist' is just gonna be them finding out there's a dumping on Friday this series is so DRY."

However, another suggested "Plot twist: The woman left without a man will have to leave the island."

Another tweeted: "I assume the twist is that they have to send someone home and it'll probably be Hugo."

While a fourth said: "I would assume that text is a new bloke coming. For the single girl or two new fellas."

Wondering when the first elimination will be? This is what we know about the first dumping so far.

Love Island continues weekdays at 9pm on ITV2.
