Love Island 2021 contestant reveal has ITV2 viewers convinced of early twist

Love Island 2021 is almost here, with the start date, contestants and the official shop for this year's Love Island bottles and suitcases all being announced.

The show, which will be located in Mallorca once again, will return on June 28 with 11 new Love Island contestants. Sharon Gaffka, Hugo Hammond and Shannon Singh are just a few of the cast members taking part in this year's show. You can see the line-up in full here.

ITV slowly released the names for Love Island 2021 yesterday on Monday, June 21, after urging people to "think before they post".

Shortly after all of the contestants were unveiled, ITV fans were quick to point out that something about the line-up didn't quite add up.

This was because six girls and only five boys were announced.

Those who follow Love Island will know the dating show usually drops a bombshell or two at the start of the show, often in the form of a late arrival.

Discussing previous series, one fan said: "Swear it only 5 girls and 5 boys to start?"

While another questioned: "6 girls and 5 boys?"

And a third even guessed: "6 girls 5 boys.....are the lads gonna be stepping forward then???"

During the first ever winter edition in 2020, it was twins Eve and Jess who made a late arrival, sending shockwaves through the villa.

In 2019, Tommy Fury and Curtis Pritchard were late arrivals, making their entrance after the Islanders had already coupled up.
