Love Island 2020 'to be filmed in Majorca villa' as London rumours rubbished

Love Island 2020 will be filmed in Majorca, according to reports, and not in London as originally rumoured.

The ITV2 show's future has been up in the air due to the coronavirus pandemic which is likely to halt international travel for some weeks to come.

And it had been reported that show bosses were considering filming it in the less-than-exotic location of London.

But a show insider has now revealed the much-loved reality show will be filmed in Majorca in the usual villa, starting in August.

The show will return to the Majorca villa we know and love (ITV)

A source told The Sun : "Reports that bosses are looking at London as an alternative are rubbish.

" Love Island is all about the sunshine and those skimpy outfits around the swimming pool as well as the sexual chemistry between the girls and boys.

"It has that holiday vibe which they just wouldn't be able to ever replicate on a dreary Wednesday in September in London."

They added that the show intends to start filming in August, which is later than usual, but they could even extend that to November if the coronavirus continues to delay plans.

Majorca is where the show has always been filmed, until the most recent series where it was filmed in South Africa for the winter edition.

The source added that the show bosses are confident that so long as it is delayed until the virus has passed, the show will be filmed in the same beloved villa as in past series.

The show usually begins in early summer, but there is now no chance of that happening due to lockdown.

MirrorOnline has reached out to a rep for the show, who declined to comment on plans.

Leading bookmaker Coral is betting on where the villa will be on the summer series this year - and despite London being the current favourite, it could be overtaken by Scotland.

Glasgow is 5-2 to be the location of the villa this year, Mallorca is 3-1, while Cornwall can be backed at 5-1.
