Love Island 2019 winner Greg O'Shea lost nearly a STONE after two weeks in the villa

Love Island winner Greg O’Shea has lost nearly a stone during his two week stint in the villa and hasn’t been sleeping well, his father Niall has said.

And the protective parent has said he told his son that it is unfortunate that he has to live his life now with chaotic fans.

Speaking at Shannon Airport, Niall O’Shea told the Irish Mirror: “I suppose we were with him in London over the weekend just to again try and acclimatise him a little bit and we were keen to get him home.

“A lot of it [publicity in London] when they went out as a couple, it was all Amber so he was quite happy stepping back and he thought it was all for Amber so I think he’s getting a bit of realisation here.

“He said he hasn’t been sleeping well and hasn’t been eating properly and hasn’t really been able to train so that’s what he’s hoping to do.

“And funny enough even in the villa he said they feed them three times a day but he was losing weight all the time, he lost something like 5 or 6 kg in the two weeks.”

The Limerick father of three said coming home to hundreds of screaming fans will be a reality check for his 24-year-old son and their family.

He said: “We didn’t [expect this] ourselves, the same as Greg, as he said earlier ‘I’ve been on a two week holiday and I’m just coming home,’ and that’s his approach to it. I don’t think until now he realised it.

“I remember speaking to him on Friday night in London and he kind of said ‘ah Dad you know I tried to talk you into it’ but I said look unfortunate for you now this is reality and you’re going to have to live with it.

“And funny enough I was kind of saying to his sister Laura and his mother, you know he’s in the villa and we’re here, we didn’t want to do this but look you’re supporting him and trying to do your best.

“We are very proud of him more so all the good work his mother did with him all the way up in terms of keeping him grounded, keeping him a gentleman.

“He’s done us proud and done Limerick and Ireland really proud and he’s really flown the flag on one one of the UK's biggest programmes.”
